Macro Help Desk busy with foot soldiers

Thanks to the many of you who have been calling and emailing with macro questions and ideas, we know the Fragpedal II is being put to good use in the latest "combat" games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

When you are playing a game where you are a soldier fighting on foot, its makes good strategic sense to be able to "game on foot" using a dual foot pedal Fragpedal. Despite the other controversies swirling around these new titles, there is no controversy amongst our customers: playing these games with the Fragpedal II is kick ass fun.

WASD is Dead

If you game with an Omnimouse, you can say goodbye to traditional 4 button movement and free up a couple of fingers in FPS and Action games. Auto-strafe represents the first major improvement in the fundamentals of FPS gameplay since the genre began.

The Omnimouse with IDI technology, is the only gaming mouse with this game-enhancing capability to automatically operate the sideways strafing keys while you play. You just move the mouse and press the forwards/backwards keys; it does the rest.

Support Files Update for Windows 7 and Vista 64

We've completed a feature update for our IDI technology that makes use of Vista and Windows 7 newest 64 bit technology.
This update improves communications between USB devices as featured in our IDI technology for these new operating systems.
This update is highly recommended for all users of Windows7 and Vista 64. The update is available NOW and is posted on the Support/Omni Devices (IDI based) page.

Phasing out the PAL based Fragpedal Elite and Fragpedal Classic

The Fragpedal Elite and Fragpedal Classic are built on our PAL(TM) technology which is supported by an 8 bit microprocessor. Although such a processor is standard for most USB peripherals, we have "maxed out" 8 bit technology with our new IDI technology which is now embedded in our products in a 32 bit microprocessor, the STM32. The Fragpedal II is our current and latest footpedal. It's newer 32 bit technology in combination with flash memory (currently 8MBit) allows us to continue to improve and add features to pedals already in the hands (or at the feet) of users, via software updates installable over the internet.

We know that one pedal design does "not fit all" and we will be offering additional pedal models based on our 32 bit IDI technology in 2010 in response to our many customer inquiries and suggestions. As always a big thanks to our users and customers who continue to "push the envelope" with foot assisted input in gaming and professional PC work.

IDI Device Configurator Upgrade v 1.0.5.16

A major software/firmware upgrade providing new extended functionality for our IDI device
family is now available for download. Version 1.0.5.16 of the Configurator software includes a
host of device feature extensions (suggested from customer feedback, thanks!), as well as
the much requested Macro Builder. You can now easily "build" uber-powerful macros for the
Fragpedal (and its virtual buttons) the Omnimouse, and the AMP, without programming or
coding. Omnimouse users check out the new support for powerful mouse gesture macros, the
joystick mode, and the addition of Z axis control for 3d drawing. This upgrade is highly
recommended for all IDI devices running on Windows machines.

Mac Configurator Version 3

The latest Configurator software for IDI devices running on Mac machines is here. This version has been tested with the latest OSX (10.6), supports current device firmware version 1.0.4b9 and includes sound file support. The next Mac IDI support files update is scheduled for late August, please continue to update us with feature requests or bug reports for inclusion in this version.

Fragpedal & XBox: Omnimouse & Joystick

For those of you who have emailed about using your Fragpedal (or Omnimouse) with your Xbox via a USB mouse/keyboard adapter, we have completed a new firmware update that enables both devices to be recognized by adapters as a USB mouse. Many Xbox games gain a new kind of game play with dual foot controls. If you have a particular game you'd like to test this with, we'd appreciate your feedback as we tune this implementation. Email us about testing with the updated pre-release firmware.

Omnimouse Joystick Emulation
This firmware update includes several other new features including enabling the Omnimouse to be recognized and used as a joystick. The implementation offers a new way to play joystick only or multi-vehicle-mode games without an actual joystick. If you have a joystick enabled game that you'd like to test/play with your Omnimouse, send us an email about our pre-release beta firmware patch.

These features and others will be available to all Omnimouse, Fragpedal and AMP owners for upgrading their devices soon. The new firmware will be available for download on the IDI Devices support page by the end of the month.

IDI Device Software Update v 1.0.4.13

We are happy to announce a new upgrade for IDI devices is now available on our IDI Products support page here. Version 1.0.4.13 includes a number of fixes and improvements. October's Most Requested Feature (enable programming of multiple IDI devices without unplugging) is now supported. Fragpedal II Firmware Update Scheduled

We will be releasing a major firmware upgrade for the Fragpedal II that includes several new cool features and bug fixes for reported issues July 10. This is a big one with support for 3 virtual buttons per configuration, the new OSD (on screen display) function, and several tweaks to the Configurator to make programming keyboard combos and other common operations smoother. We are happy to announce the release of the Fragpedal II, the latest edition to our USB footpedal line.

The Fragpedal II features the Elite style pads and buttons and the control circuitry is mounted in a separate sealed module.

Firmware for the Fragpedal II is flash based and can be upgraded over the internet. Its based on the same powerful 32 bit technology that runs the Omnimouse and it shares features and macro language (IDI Script 1.02)

We are shipping in the US by Priority Mail (Next Day) and orders placed up to Dec 19th should safely arrive by Christmas. Except for customized products, our other products are stocked Internationally, so when you order from this site, your order will ship from Europe or Australia depending on your location. Our prized customized R2s are still assembled in the US, so International customers should allow 5-6 days for delivery for these.

R2 Top button replacement now available!

Break a button on most mice, and its time for a new mouse. The membrane switch buttons of the R2 are unbreakable, and can now be replaced to eliminate any signs of wear over time. If the buttons are requiring slightly more pressure after 1,000,000 or so presses, a simple replacement can keep your R2 operating in mint condition, and the cost at $1 a button is sweet! Replacement is simple; remove the medallion, remove the top screw and top, and then slide out the old button assembly and slide in the new. Thanks to all who sent in suggestions, ideas, and pictures for the Top Button survey. We had a *fair* response this time; maybe some of you were inspired and were out playing basketball. ;)

We'll post a run-down of the ideas soon and some 3d images, but first the winners who submitted images of their R2 or CU.
For the CU image, a new Fragpedal goes out to Tomcat39 whose CU showed the most use we have seen to date... Check it out, over 16 miles of mouse travel!!!

The images were fun to check out, and a new Fragpedal goes to soundman Jonathan Proby who sent us an image of his R2 with his sound hardware. We hope the pedal makes controlling the "studio" just a bit nicer... :)

We are Busy behind the scenes... 2006 will bring increasing modularity, customization, and intelligence to the R2 gaming mouse revolution! We've had lots of feedback from users with creative improvement ideas and we will be offering more customizable parts as a result. Check out our new Version "A" Design for the R2 grip with special molded "locators" for the fingertips. This version will be especially helpful for new use... Give us an email with your feedback if you like this, we think it might make a welcome addition to the available options for the model. Left handers? We're working on that too, stay tuned. We're also going to be looking at offering a second version of the top buttons, and we'll put up a questionnaire here soon to give you a chance to remind us of your ideas on that.

New R2 Configuration Design Help

We have just posted a new help document on the Support page. (It's the third one from the top.) This .pdf is an R2 profile input form with context sensitive menus for each button that allow you to easily design complex button binds for your game in plain english. The best part is you can push a button on the form to send the information to our Customer Service team, and we can help you code and use your binds. We're looking for more cool bind ideas and we're ready to help you get some now! If you have an idea you can't quite get to work, just open the form, fill it in, and press send. We'll give you code help to make it work!

The Gamingmouse.com forum is expanding! Graphics, video, animation, and other professional users of the RotoGraf (graphics professional model of the R2) are simplifying their daily work with the help of PAL 2.0 macros and programming, and we will be adding a section for professional users coming from Good Work Systems.com, the home of the RotoGraf. We know a lot of our users are both gamers and graphics professionals, and we hope the new forum format will provide even better support for all. We'll also be updating the forum software and introducing a database system to help users find profile information quickly and easily. The forum will be down from time to time as we get this work done. Thanks again to all our members for their input and support!

A Thanks to the Hardware Folks

As mentioned here earlier, we have been in the process of contacting hardware review sites to correct a news story about an unrelated upcoming mouse model that erroneously was described to be the first with memory.
We are pleased and thank the review sites that got back to us and made amendments to their posted information or included material to keep their readers abreast of the current technology in gaming mice.
Although we haven't heard back from all sites, we wanted to let you know that we are encouraged by the responsiveness and integrity of the many folks we talked to, and we are impressed that most hardware reviewers are very dedicated to giving their readers the fullest and best information they can. It's a big hardware world out there, and that has to be a challenging job. Thanks again for the clarification!

The first gaming mouse with memory is right here and has been for 2 years!

While this may seem strange news to most of you, we have been informed that a company that makes mice with snake names doesn't seem to know this. A new gaming mouse projected (it hasn't been made yet) by this company is claimed to be the first gaming mouse with memory.

While it's a ridiculous mistake, we are obliged to respond to this when we see it in print. If it ends up being posted all over the internet, it's a disservice to all who want to buy gaming hardware, even the fans of these mice. We would like to invite any and all who are interested in memory and its capability in mice to drop in on our forum, or give us a call at our Customer Service number with your questions. Our R2 1600 dpi gaming mouse was the first mouse with onboard memory when it debuted in May of 2003 at the E3 Convention in Los Angeles. We went away with a Best of Show Award from a Canadian Media group, and the mouse has been pleasing and awing gamers and others ever since. To our loyal gamers: if you spot this error in print online, please give us an email at tellthetruth@goodworksystems.com and give us the link. We really appreciate your help to get this corrected, and we sincerely regret the misinformation may be going out. Stay tuned, we will update you as we hopefully get this resolved soon.

We have been wrapping up final details on our new USB gaming foot pedal and it will be released soon. We will give the exact date soon here at Gamingmouse.com. We are looking at chip shortages this winter and will have some allocation issues to deal with, so we are starting a mailing list for those of you interested in reserving one. The Fragpedal is a dual pedal and allows you to use both feet to input game commands. Two buttons on each pedal keep it simple, but the buttons are PAL enabled and can send up to 3 different commands each. The Fragpedal hosts 32 kb of internal memory, just like its cousin the R2 gaming mouse, has space in memory for 30 different configuration sets so you can use it differently for each program you use it with.
